Prerequisite Education Requirements

(All North American Applicants) Applicants to AUIS must have completed a minimum of 90 semester credits (135 quarter credits) of undergraduate studies, which include specific pre-medical requirements or their equivalents, from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The required premedical courses are:




General Biology I w/Lab 4 6
General Biology II w/Lab 4 6
Physics I w/Lab 4 6
Physics II w/Lab 4 6
Organic Chemistry I w/Lab 4 6
Organic Chemistry II w/Lab 4 6
Inorganic Chemistry I w/Lab 4 6
Inorganic Chemistry II w/Lab 4 6
College Math (Any) 3 4.5


Minimum Academic Requirements for International Students

1. GCE “O” Level AND GCSE subjects (Grades A-C), or

2. Five CXC/CSEC (Grades I-III) AND Three 2-unit CAPE or three "A" Level subjects, of which two must be in Biology and Chemistry, Or

3. IB or ISCE program completion (GPA of 3.0 and higher)

All must include English, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Additional Requirements

  1. Applicants must be eligible to apply for US visa during Clinical Clerkship training.
  2. If English is not the student’s first language an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 6.0 and at least 5.5 or higher in each component: reading, writing, listening and speaking is required.

Students with 90 credits of University or College-level undergraduate coursework with fulfilled AUIS pre-medical prerequisites (for details see AUIS catalog 2018-19) may be accepted directly into the 4-Year MD program without the Pre-Medical Year requirement.
